THE BOBAC MARMOT IN CHELYABINSK REGION

The bobac was widely distributed at the Chelyabinsk area at the end of the XIX - beginning XX century. But hunting and ploughing up virgin land caused decline of the marmot numbers. At the present marmots are preserved in the very southen areas of the Chelyabinsk Region. Methods of preservation undertaking formaly were hold decline of the marmot numbers but state of this species are unknown.

For study morphometric characteristics of Kazakhstan bobak snaring was made at the areas situated not far from Bredinski marmot reservation in the south of Chelyabinsk region.

Results of the measures are given at the table.
