The alarm call's temporal organisation of marmots correlate with the relief's vertical desmemberment of the area populated by marmots (Nikol'skii, 1974, 1984, 1994): the increase of the vertical division of the relief is accompanied by reduction of the periods of pulse recurrence, formation of sets of doubled-tripled sounds or series of quickly following sounds.

In 1997 in the Orenburg region (South Ural) we discovered that in the East part (Svetlinskii district) on very small desmembered plains Ural-Tobol (Turgai) plateau the signal consist of sets of slowly folowing sounds only. On the contrary, in the central part of this region in the Guberlinsk mountains where vertical desmemberment of relief is much more siganl sets of doubled sounds are usually. Such structure of the signal is more tipical for M. sibirica (Nikol'skii, 1996). This species inhabit temperate desmembered mountains.

Our observation confirm a selection of marmots on reactivity.
